Titles and Toolbars

Titles help your users understand where they are and what they are looking at. Toolbars contain the buttons you offer your users to interact with your content.

NOTE: As of now, most actions are available for Tableau. There is no feature parity to other platforms, like Power BI or ThoughtSpot. Yet there is some overlap.

Show Titles

You have different options to show/hide your content titles.

Global Setting of all titles

You can globally show/hide all titles by using the following setting:

  1. Navigate to the backend of the system (e.g. https://www.site.com/backend) and log in if prompted.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Curator > Portal Settings > Styles > Global Options
  3. Use the toggle Hide All Titles to display none of the title, neither Page nor Dashboard titles. You will see the toggles described next greyed out if this setting is on. If you decide to keep it off you can still decide to hide titles on a lower level.

Global Setting of Dashboard Titles

  1. Navigate to the backend of the system (e.g. https://www.site.com/backend) and log in if prompted.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Curator > Portal Settings > Styles > Dashboard Styles
  3. Use the toggle Hide Dashboard Titles to hide titles on dashboards, i.e. https://www.site.com***/dashboard/***yourdashboard.

NOTE: this settings is unavailable if Hide All Titles toggled on.

Global Setting of Page Titles

  1. Navigate to the backend of the system (e.g. https://www.site.com/backend) and log in if prompted.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Curator > Portal Settings > Styles > Page Styles
  3. Use the toggle Hide Page Titles to hide titles on pages, i.e. https://www.site.com***/page/***yourpage.

NOTE: this setting is unavailable if Hide All Titles toggled on.

Show Toolbars - Locate Titles and Toolbars

  1. Navigate to the backend of the system (e.g. https://www.site.com/backend) and log in if prompted.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Curator > Portal Settings > Styles > Menu Options In the Menu options you can configure the layout of your content pages. Depending on the type of navigation, you find these alternatives to place your titles and toolbars.

Top Navigation and Mega Menu

Top of page

Have your title at the top of a page and the toolbar situated right beneath it. With this option, you can further adjust your toolbar in the Dashboard Styles.

Top Navigation and Top of page Title/Toolbar Location

  • Hide Action Titles - If enabled the toolbar buttons will not show any titles on a desktop screen. Hovering over a button will show the title to clarify functionalities.

  • Action Button Size - Choose between large, medium, and small-sized buttons to save space or prevent wrapping. The default size is large.

Inside of top nav

The title and toolbar move inside the navigation bar along the top of the screen. They are placed between the menu items and the user menu. Make sure you have enough space to have everything readable.

Top Navigation and Inside of top nav Title/Toolbar Location

Beneath top nav

Create a second navigation-like bar right beneath your actual navigation. The title and toolbar move next to each other inside one row. You can set the background, Subnav Background Color, and text color, Subnav Text Color, in the Menu Styles.

Side toolbar & title top of page

The title and toolbar get separated using this configuration. The title moves inside a second navigation-like bar right beneath your actual navigation. The toolbar moves to the right side of the screen, next to your dashboard. Clicking a button triggers a slideout to view further actions. You can set the background, Subnav Background Color, and text color, Subnav Text Color, in the Menu Styles.

Note for previous installs

We work on increasing the usability and intuitiveness of Curator. Thus, we renamed our before-called Subnavigation to Title and Toolbar Location.

Beneath you find a mapping of the setting names and their CSS classes.
