Building and Supporting the Entire Curator Experience

At its core, Curator is about unifying the analytics experience where it meets the user. We call this the presentation layer. However, whether you’re building an internal analytics hub for your company or a new product to offer customers, Curator is only one part of the entire tech stack. So while Curator makes the presentation of analytics easy and beautiful, we’ll need solutions for both analytics and data to deliver the final experience:
Data Layer
The data layer is where the information we’re analyzing resides. There are many options for this layer, and often there will be many source systems you will pull data from. Regardless, it’s recommended that you pull all your data into a single location for easier analysis. This could be Tableau’s own data server, which leverages Hyper Data Extracts, or it could be a standalone platform like Snowflake. When building out solutions for customers, our reference setup is Snowflake paired with an ELT tool such as Fivetran or Matillion that makes it easy to get data out of your source systems. If you would like help with your data strategy and architecture, the InterWorks Data Practice is here to help.
Analytics Layer
The analytics layer is where your reports and dashboards live. Curator leverages your existing reports to create a better, branded experience. These existing reports can come from a multitude of systems, and Curator can integrate with many. Our support for analytics platforms comes in three varieties:
We’re huge fans of Tableau and recommend it for any deployment of Curator if you are considering a platform. If you need help in your journey building out that content, reach out to our Assist by InterWorks team who can help empower your Tableau developers.
Supporting the Experience
Your Curator license comes with world-class product support, and we’re ready to help you get the most out of your purchase. Of course, the entire platform is more than just Curator software. The servers behind all these layers (data, analytics and presentation) are extremely important. Healthy servers mean reliable and speedy performance. While they know it’s important, many of our customers want to focus on the content and stop worrying about the individual servers powering Curator or Tableau Server. If that sounds like you, our ServerCare team is here to help your team keep producing and delivering value through 24/7 server monitoring, quarterly health checks and an infrastructure health assessment.
Whatever your challenges, the InterWorks teams are here to help. We’d love to hear your ideas, aspirations and challenges around delivering amazing analytics experiences.
Recently, Tableau has been encouraging the use of connected apps for external applications, instead of using trusted tickets. All of Tableau’s recent embedding features require connected apps. Since this only deals with behind the scenes authentication, there is no impact to the end user. In our effort to remain closely aligned with Tableau, Curator is transitioning to only using connected apps.
Curator has added the feature to be able to send mark commenting data to a webhook. With the widespread use of API integration platforms, this really opens the doorway to virtually unlimited use cases.
If you’ve got users reporting access issues, your first stop on the road to resolution should be the User Menu Access button. This feature gives you a snapshot view of any given user’s current menu structure, as well as their permissions status for all the content within that menu.
